नाशिकच्या इंदिरानगर परिसरातील खत प्रकल्पातून पाझरणारे काळे दूषित पाणी थेट जमिनीत जिरवले जात असल्याचा धक्कादायक प्रकार समोर आला आहे. प्रभाग क्रमांक ३१ च्या शिवसेना (उद्धव बाळासाहेब ठाकरे) गटाच्या नगरसेविका माधुरी डेमसे यांनी हा प्रकार उघड करत प्रशासनाचे लक्ष वेधले आहे.

खत प्रकल्पात साचणाऱ्या कचऱ्याच्या खालून काळसर दूषित पाणी बाहेर पडत असून तेथीलच खड्डा करून ते पाणी जमिनीत जिरवले जात असल्याचे निदर्शनास आले. नियमांनुसार कचरा टाकण्यापूर्वी आवश्यक बेड टाकणे अपेक्षित असते, मात्र प्रत्यक्षात थेट जमिनीवरच कचरा टाकला जात असल्याचे समोर आले आहे. या प्रकारामुळे परिसरातील शेतकऱ्यांच्या विहिरीचे पाणी दूषित होण्याची भीती निर्माण झाली आहे. काही स्थानिक नागरिकांनी वॉटर फिल्टर साफ करताना त्यातून काळसर पाणी बाहेर पडत असल्याचेही दाखवून दिले. (Nashik Fertilizer Plant Black Water Issue)

दरम्यान, महापालिकेकडून ऑगस्ट २०२३ मध्ये या दूषित पाण्याची विल्हेवाट लावण्यासाठी सुमारे अडीच किलोमीटर लांबीची पाइपलाइन टाकून ते पाणी थेट पिंपळगाव खांब येथील जलशुद्धीकरण केंद्रात नेण्याचे आश्वासन देण्यात आले होते. मात्र इतका कालावधी उलटल्यानंतरही या संदर्भात कोणतीही ठोस कार्यवाही झालेली नाही. यापूर्वीही ग्रामस्थांनी या प्रश्नावर अनेकदा आंदोलन केले होते. प्रशासनाने त्यावेळी पाइपलाइनसाठी निविदा प्रक्रिया सुरू करण्याचे आश्वासन दिले होते. मात्र अद्यापही परिस्थितीत बदल न झाल्याने परिसरातील शेतकरी आणि नागरिकांमध्ये संतापाचे वातावरण आहे. (Nashik Fertilizer Plant Black Water Issue)

नगरसेविका माधुरी डेमसे यांनी या संपूर्ण प्रकरणाची गंभीर दखल घेत थेट महापालिका आयुक्त मनीषा खत्री यांना घटनास्थळी आणून हा प्रकार दाखवण्याचा निर्णय घेतला असल्याचे सांगितले.

परिसरातील दूषित पाण्यामुळे विहिरींचे पाणी खराब होण्यासोबतच भविष्यात रोगराई पसरण्याचाही धोका निर्माण होऊ शकतो, अशी भीती नागरिकांनी व्यक्त केली आहे.

पर्यावरणाशी खेळ झाल्यास त्याचा फटका शेती, पाणी आणि आरोग्यावर दीर्घकालीन परिणाम करणारा ठरू शकतो — अशी चिंता स्थानिकांनी व्यक्त केली आहे.

A serious environmental concern has surfaced in the Indiranagar area of Nashik, where contaminated black water seeping from a fertilizer processing project is allegedly being absorbed directly into the ground.

Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Madhuri Demse from Ward No. 31 has brought the issue to light, accusing authorities of negligence in handling waste and contaminated water from the project.

According to local observations, black wastewater is leaking from beneath the accumulated waste at the fertilizer plant. Instead of proper disposal, pits are reportedly being dug nearby to allow the contaminated water to seep directly into the soil.

As per standard procedures, a protective bed layer should be installed before dumping waste. However, reports suggest that waste is being dumped directly on the ground, raising serious environmental concerns.

Local farmers fear that the contamination could affect nearby wells and groundwater sources. Some residents have also demonstrated that black residue emerges while cleaning water filters, indicating possible contamination.

Earlier in August 2023, the Nashik Municipal Corporation had assured that the contaminated water would be diverted through a 2.5-kilometre pipeline to the water treatment plant at Pimpalgaon Khamb. However, no visible progress has been made on that promise so far.

Villagers had previously staged protests demanding action. Despite assurances regarding pipeline tenders and necessary procedures, the issue remains unresolved.

Corporator Madhuri Demse has now decided to personally present the situation before Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri to ensure the seriousness of the matter is acknowledged.

Residents warn that continued negligence could lead to long-term environmental damage, groundwater contamination, and potential health risks in the surrounding area.
