नाशिक महापालिका निवडणुकीच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर शहराच्या राजकारणात मोठी उलथापालथ घडली आहे. भाजपसाठी धक्कादायक ठरणाऱ्या या घडामोडीत नाशिकचे दोन माजी महापौर शिवसेना (शिंदे गट) मध्ये दाखल झाले आहेत. उपमुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे यांच्या उपस्थितीत हा पक्षप्रवेश पार पडला असून, त्यामुळे स्थानिक राजकीय समीकरणे पूर्णतः बदलताना दिसत आहेत. अशोक मुर्तडक हे यापूर्वी मनसेत असताना नाशिक महापालिकेचे महापौर होते. निवडणुकीच्या तोंडावर त्यांनी भाजपमध्ये प्रवेश केला होता. मात्र, भाजपकडून अपेक्षित उमेदवारी न मिळाल्याने त्यांनी प्रभाग क्रमांक ५ ड मधून अपक्ष निवडणूक लढवण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. या निवडणुकीत त्यांना शिवसेना शिंदे गटाचा पाठिंबा मिळाल्याने अखेर त्यांनी थेट शिवसेनेत प्रवेश केला. आता या प्रभागात भाजपचे गुरुमित बग्गा आणि शिवसेना समर्थित अशोक मुर्तडक यांच्यात थेट लढत होणार आहे.

दुसरीकडे, माजी महापौर दशरथ पाटील यांचा मुलगा प्रेम पाटील याने यापूर्वीच शिवसेना शिंदे गटात प्रवेश केला असून त्याला प्रभाग क्रमांक ९ मधून उमेदवारी देण्यात आली आहे. प्रेम पाटील यांना उमेदवारी मिळाल्यानंतर दशरथ पाटील देखील शिवसेनेत प्रवेश करतील, असा अंदाज व्यक्त केला जात होता, जो आता खरा ठरला आहे. दशरथ पाटील यांनी दीड वर्षांपूर्वी भाजपमध्ये प्रवेश केला होता. भाजपकडून त्यांच्या मुलासाठी उमेदवारीचा शब्द देण्यात आल्याचे बोलले जात होते. मात्र, ऐनवेळी त्यांचे सख्खे भाऊ व मनसेचे प्रदेश सरचिटणीस दिनकर पाटील यांनी भाजपमध्ये प्रवेश केल्यानंतर समीकरणे बदलली. भाजपने प्रभाग क्रमांक ९ ड मधून दिनकर पाटील यांचे पुत्र अमोल पाटील यांना उमेदवारी दिली. परिणामी, दशरथ पाटील यांनी मुलगा प्रेम पाटील यांचा शिवसेनेत प्रवेश घडवून आणत उमेदवारी मिळवली.

दरम्यान, अशोक मुर्तडक यांनी १२ सप्टेंबर २०१४ ते १५ मार्च २०१७ या काळात मनसेत असताना महापौरपद भूषवले होते, तर दशरथ पाटील यांनी एकसंघ शिवसेनेत असताना १५ मार्च २००२ ते १८ फेब्रुवारी २००५ या कालावधीत नाशिक महापालिकेचे नेतृत्व केले होते.
महापालिका निवडणुकीच्या तोंडावर दोन माजी महापौरांना आपल्या गळाला लावत एकनाथ शिंदेंनी नाशिकच्या राजकारणात मोठी खेळी केल्याचे चित्र स्पष्ट झाले आहे.

Ahead of the Nashik Municipal Corporation elections, the city’s political landscape has witnessed a major upheaval. In a significant blow to the BJP, two former mayors of Nashik have officially joined the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Former mayors Ashok Murtadak and Dashrath Patil entered the Shiv Sena under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, with former MP Hemant Godse playing a key role in facilitating their induction.

Ashok Murtadak, who earlier served as mayor while being with MNS, had joined the BJP ahead of the elections but was denied a ticket. Consequently, he decided to contest as an independent candidate from Ward No. 5-D with the support of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), eventually leading to his formal entry into the party.

Meanwhile, Dashrath Patil’s son Prem Patil has already been fielded by the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) from Ward No. 9. Following this, Dashrath Patil himself joined the party, confirming earlier political speculations.

The situation in Ward No. 9-D has drawn special attention as candidates from the same family — sons of two real brothers — are contesting against each other, making it one of the most closely watched battles in the Nashik municipal elections.
